The Automata Conference held at Beaumont House, Old Windsor was attended by strategic BCM decision makers from both the public and private sectors, discussing a range of security issues including terrorism, BS 25999 Part 2, technology risks, incident management, pandemics, data storage and secure destruction of data files and the global impact on business of climate change.
CSL director, Kevin Foster, said: “The conference provided a fantastic platform for strategic decision makers to discuss the range of security issues faced by business today. Reviewing first hand interactive technology available and having the chance to take part in a survey on BCM challenges in 2008 will be great insight and prove of great value to BCM professionals from across the world and to the BCM industry as a whole.”
The event attracted interest from across a broad spectrum of disciplines including IT, Emergency Management, Facilities, HR, Security, Insurance, Risk Management, Quality, Auditing and Health, Safety & Environment.
Highlighted within the media, at what seems like weekly intervals, everyone is fully aware of how important it is to keep information secure. As more and more of us find our information committed to computer data files, the need for secure solutions for data storage grows.
Said Kevin: “Together with our ‘Service Partner’, Microteam Ltd, we have launched a mobile data destruction facility which is now servicing a number of businesses from across the UK. Through the provision of our unique, secure, onsite customer-controlled management of hard disc drives (HDDs) for ready for destruction, our specialist HDD shredding unit is specifically adapted for mobile or static operation, meaning we can complete the whole destruction process, in minutes not hours and it can be performed either at the customer’s premises without the need for client power supply connection or off-site.”
CSL, experts within this specialist arena are working with more and more companies to help address secure data eradication issues for redundant storage devices, with CSL’s solution environmentally friendly and totally recyclable.
Audit trail concerns are addressed with a certificate of destruction issued on completion of destruction of the storage media and the whole process can be witnessed by the client, with a detailed list of serial numbers of all destroyed devices provided, offering a fully auditable track and trace service of all destroyed assets. The process offers W.E.E.E recycling compliance. “The end debris complies fully with the WEEE Directive and UK legislation,” said Kevin. “CSL's reprocessing of the raw materials produces a bi-product that not only makes the data irretrievable, it is totally environmentally friendly and 100% re-useable.”
During the conference CSL offered information on a number of emerging safeguards and discussed commerce data challenges and how to adequately address them. -----------Ends----------- Image details: (Image1) CSL director, Kevin Foster (left) Microteam director Mark Keating (right) in front of the mobile data shredding facility at the conference.
